linked grids with scope boxed extents

I'm linking an architectural model to my MEP model, the Arch model contains grids that I want to copy/monitor to my own model, However, the grids are not showing since their extents are bounded to a scope box in the original model. Is there any solution to showing the grids apart from removing the bounding of the extents to the scope box in the Arch model?
