Issue with Dimensioning & snapping

Good day everybody, I am working on Revit software to do Plumbing modelling. I came up with a issue for dimensioning the crown of pipe (Cop) or Bottom of pipe (Bop) Unable to snap to the edge of pipe to do dimensioning. When using Measure tool also, snap to edge not appearing when visual style is changed between hiddenline, wireframe & shaded. The workaround I found is by drawing a detail line and to do dimensioning. The workaround I found can be applied to one or few pipes but let's say I have a 10 or 30 Storey building with huge network of pipes the workaround is tedious & time-consuming. Is there any alternate solution to this? Kindly address this issue.

I have enclosed a video about the issue & workaround. Appreciate If anyone helps!!!

Setting detail level to "Fine" then turning off "Rise" and "Drop" can help sometimes, but honestly, it doesn't always work. Sometimes you still need to use detail lines.

Hi thanks for your valuable reply. The solution you gave here is a workaround to overcome the issue, which is good for few pipes, but when there is a pipe network switching to detail line, then dimensioning causes tremendous consumption of time. Hence, I want to have a permanent solution instead of workarounds or temporary solution. Anyway, appreciate your effort. Thankyou

Hi,

Currently, the dimension tool in revit can't help you dim the edge of the pipe in revit

Sp there is no solution for this. You can post an idea about this.
