See the difference between two images. When moving fitting to the left, elevation of the pipe changes, and naturally all other pipes connected.

Pipes are at a slope and elevations should be where they are before moving the fitting.

Because the pipe is sloping, when you move the branch fitting left this would change the elevation of the intersection point between the main and the branch. Revit is presumably trying to automatically adjust the pipes to keep the connection.

If keeping the elevation and slope of the main retained is important then the best method is to delete the branch fitting, heal the main pipe, then recreate the branch drawing from the main towards the appliance whilst using the "inherit elevation" option at the connection point to the main.

Yup, that's what I was doing the whole time, I was just hoping there is some way to avoid recreating things. Getting everything to fit when you have set elevations can be  cumbersome, drawing helper detail lines does help, but it's an extra step.

Thanks for confirmation.

You could try pinning the main pipe so that it doesn't move but from memory Revit ignores the pinning if it needs to adjust slope etc.

If you are moving the fitting in a plan view, you are basically telling Revi to ignore the slope. Have you tried moving it in a section view and utilizing snaps?

Yes, that of course works, but it would be much easier if it could be done in plan. I move fittings this way very often and having it "follow" pipe slope would be great.

Maybe time to submit an idea.

You're giving up? Maybe time to adopt a more appropriate workflow. Revit is notoriously difficult to work with sloped pipe. Getting it to work easier is a long time "Idea". You won't be posting anything new.

Check back in when you want to discuss better workflows.

What is there to give up on, it is what it is. Continuing to work the way I was doing it since there is no easier way.

Like I said, come back when you want to actually discuss workflows. There are established best practices that would help you.

Good luck with your "Idea". Anything to make sloped pipe easier would be great but that's a topic for a different forum.

And starting a thread about exactly that is, what?

If you want to fight and bicker there are plenty of subreddits.

You started fine. I offered a suggestion but you gave up and would rather submit an "Idea" than discuss ways to get it done.

I'm out.

you said do it in section, I said I'm doing that already. In fact the very title of the thread is if it can be done in plan view.

I'm out.

Thank you!

LOL, it's easier in section but you aren't happy with best practices.
