Is there a national (or international) Revit standard?

I am new to Revit and setting up our companies templates for future Revit projects. I am curious to know if there is a national standard similar to the NCS standard for CAD?

Specifically, I am wondering best practices for collaboration between trades, like does the electrical engineer do his design work in the architects model or is it best to reference in the architects model? That is one of probably a hundred questions I will have.

Thanks for anyone's time and help to answer this.

There is no standard that I am aware of yet.

I have worked in A,M,E,P firms and M,E,P firms.  We typically have a separate architectural model, then depending on the size of the project, either a MEP model or separate mechanical and electrical models.  Revit slows down when too many people are working in the same model at the same time.

Ummm.... Did you search for National BIM Standard?

Yes, I started there and found it and downloaded the complete pdf they have available. However, it really has very little to nothing to do with what I am looking for. It reads more like a spec book for a project to be run utilizing BIM, but nothing to do with the mechanics of Revit or any modeling softwares.

Why didn't you say so since you pretty much asked for that word for word?

I think what you are looking for is a standard workflow or best practices. They are going to be widely varied as much as peoples opinions, experiences, network considerations, and consultant demands.

There is also the topic of shared parameters, which, IMHO, really need some sort of national standard. There is something being developed on that front and I personally don't care for it. It's good, but doesn't really fit into my workflow.

Since you are new, there is going to be a lot of experimenting as you learn about Revit and about the people that will be using your templates. Sometimes it's going to feel like you are just throwing stuff out there to see if it sticks or bounces back at you.

Thank you, I will look those over. At first glance, these appear to contain some of what I was looking for.
