Irregular Crop Views on 3D Models

Is there a viable way to insert a crop view with irregular node points for making piping isometrics from a large piping 3D model. There appears to be irregular shapes for plan drawing crop views, but not on an isometric/3D view.

Thank you,

I think it would be possible to get what you want with multiple views on a sheet. I don't think you can make a 3D crop similar to a model in place type of thing.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

No, it doesn't give that option for 3D views

Dear @dbittinat

As mentioned in the previous comments, this is impossible. I recommend if you can clarify more about your need so we can provide alternative solutions.

Please, if this solved your issue, marked as an answer to help others.:)

Just to clarify,

Our team creates a DWG from a DXF export of a piping system from AutoPIPE and XREF it AutoCAD. The Viewports in AutoCAD are of course editable into a polygon. I was hoping this feature would be possible in Revit.

Thank you,

Daniel

The more I think of it, the less I think this really is solved. It is more like I don't expect Autodesk to actually fix it so I am merely surrendered to that fact. I wish to undo this being "solved"

You can unmark it yourself.

If you are happy with using 3D views as isometrics, there are ways to get what you want.

"You can unmark it yourself." - I just figured that out.

"If you are happy with using 3D views as isometrics, there are ways to get what you want. " - I know of no other alternative within Revit. A 2D view is not really an isometric. A rectangular crop view is just incredibly inconvenient. Will I have to stack a ton of tiny rectangular views to get what I want?

3D views as isometrics seem like a good idea but they are not true isometrics and can be quite difficult to make large ones look good. You should try some small ones before committing so you can see what you are getting into.

We already do it in AutoCAD 3D with the view ports, but want to transition to Revit for project continuity. I would say our isometrics look pretty good for not being true isometrics. I just want Revit to have the irregular crop views. It seems like a nice little addition that would help us out a long way.
