Anyone have any ideas?
Andrew
Hello,
What's your OS ?
If you use Windows 10 you should know that this OS is not perfectly fit to Autodesk engine yet.
For Windows 10 had some report for 1603 and 1619 errors.
Anyway, you can try this :
1.Remove your .net framework
2.Install it again manualy
3.Reinstall your DirectX
4.Install manualy Microsoft Visual C++ (min version 2015)
It's not 100% working but in most cases this fix the issue.

For .net i prefer microsoft offline installator.

Uninstalled and reinstalled .NET and C++ runtimes and others with the same error code result.
We do have AutoCAD 2017 installed and previous versions of AutoCAD & Revit but do not want to uninstall these if I can.
Anyone else have any ideas on how to get Revit to install.
Thanks
Andrew
Getting Revit 2017 to install?
I am not certain that anyone actually knows how.
I would rather be beaten and flogged than deal with this failure.
Put me in a coal mine and it will be less taxing than dealing with this utter failure.
No one knows how to solve this so for me at least, I guess I won't be learning how to use this software.
It boggles my mind that this is such an utter failure.
This utter failure and no one knowing how to install the program is infuriating.
No workable solutions, other than completely rewriting Windows 10, have been offered and none of those "solutions" work either.
I am thoroughly disgusted after wasting over 12 hours trying to do what should be a simple install.
No program has ever created so many problems as this, other than Windows 10 itself.
Daivd,
I feel your frustration. This is disappointing that Autodesk hasn't been able to find a fix for this situation or the fact that we are not able to install the software chronologically. This is my process and failed miserably.
1. Uninstalled the .Nets and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable both x64 and x86 and finally for the grand finally anything associated with Revit 2017 from the previous attempts like folders created into the appdata (Local & Roaming), program files, program files (x86), and program Data was cleared. Yet, again the software failed to install.
2. So there has been one successful way to installing 2017 products. However, I would think Autodesk doesn't expect us to uninstalled every previous version of software and work backwards. I tried this with two other computers and it worked but not ideal when I deal with 200+ Engineers that need the software. I sure hope they fix this problem because we are thinking of rolling out some of the software to maybe 1/3 of these engineers and I'm not going to uninstall all of their previous software to get this version on.
In any case I just wanted to share my experience and still looking for a solution.
Best Regards,
Rolando N.
Did anyone get anywhere with this as after 6 months of successful installs, my deployments are failing. I have noticed that within the BDSP deployment I can install Revit Content, Navisworks, and AutoCAD. Revit seems to be the sticking point. I have tried with original deployment files and downloaded the latest deployment image.
With the Revit install I watched the Revit folders in C:/Program files/AutoDesk/Revit 2017 and they are populated with install files, it seems as though once it starts the deployment of the Cloud Manager, the install is aborted. Although I am sure that the original deployment files did not have Cloud Manager.
I have tried disabling all the Anti-Virus software and UAC.
RichardWatson4847 : Could you add the log file to see your error. I finally, started a process to eliminate a broad list of things that it could possibly be the issue. You can start by running a disk clean up and clean up your temp folder. If you are getting an error 1601 or 1603 delete and download the latest version of .Net Framework and Uninstall your video card driver and download the latest version. This process helped me tremendously specifically for the errors above. If none of these work you can try turning off the antivirus (My antivirus is Sophos). In my case I had to uninstall the antivirus because it wouldn't install even though I would turn it off. Finally, you can also update all the updates for windows. This is some of the procedures I have done on several computers and had a success. I don't know how good you feel about editing the ini file for the deployments you create but if I feel that Divx or a Redistributable are issues (This is after me uninstalling from the control panel) you can delete the redistributables from the prerequisite and have it only install your specific software. However, once the software is installed you would need to install all the redistributables so the software functions properly. Hopefully, I have given you some ideas on how to tackle this problem. Just know I understand your frustration.

Thanks for your comments. I have tried deleting the temp folder. All the PCs are upto date, one of the PCs I am having issues with is brand new. This was the last program to go on. BDSP 2015, and BDSP 2016 went on fine.
I am running Windows 10, and in the past I have had problems with .Net as it doesn't seem as straightforward to uninstall as Windows 7. In the Windows Features I have .Nety Framework 3.5 and Framework 4.7.
I'm going to try uninstalling Sophos from the PC and see if that works. I am not that keen on having to do that every time.
I will keep you posted.
If you have Sophos you really need to get that Uninstalled from your machine. Not sure if you have administrative access but that might be the reason why you can't install software on your computer. Also, we placed a ticket with Sophos and haven't heard anything from them. The more people place a ticket will get them to do a fix. One issue that they are reluctant to do anything is due to the Sophos Log file is not showing any problems. Not Surprise. But after uninstalling the Sophos software starting installing on every computer. Anyways, I agree with you that this is not an ideal process especially when dealing with 200 plus computers. But that is the only solution I found that works at the moment.
Good Luck,
Rolando Navarrete
Thank you!!
After reading this thread, I was finally able to solve our installation issue with R18 - We use HitmanPro not Sophos, but the issue is the same.
1. Uninstall HitmanPro. I think this is probably the key step.
2. Turn OFF Windows FIrewall.
3. Set UAC to Never Notify.
4. Empty the temp folder.
Installation successful on my puter. Remember to Reinstall HitmanPro, turn ON Windows Firewall and set UAC to Always notify after installation.
I must say it is quite crummy to have to leave our computers vulnerable like this in order to install Revit.
