Initials into Sheet Titleblock parameter from Cover View Family Parameter

In my cover sheet I have a family parameter with text name lets go with "John Smith" listed as our plumbing designer. We are trying to get John Smiths Initials to a plumbing drawing title block so it would read "JS".  Is this possible?

Same thing, we would want "Jane Doe", listed on the cover sheet as Mechanical Designer, to have initials in another sheet where the drawn by would read "JD".

Is this possible to link two families parameters?

You need to write it manually for the first time, in the parameter "Drawn by":

The parameter stores the values that are currently used in the project. Therefore if drawing 1 was drawn by J.D., (manually written) drawing 2 drawn by J.S. (Manually written), then for drawing 3 you will have a picklist with "J.D.", "J.S.", etc..

Please if it helps mark it as a solution.

I was looking to link two families.

So if  "John Smith" is entered into the title block in the family "Cover sheet" then in a different family, "Title Block_24x36" a text block would read only the Initials "JS" based on the text given in the "Cover Sheet" family. But if "Jane Doe" was entered in the "Cover Sheet" Family then the "Title Block_24x36" family text block would read "JD".

So its really a matter of two questions.

Can two families be linked together? If yes, then how can I get two text blocks to link or rather correlate with each other. (Maybe If/Then statement?)

Sounds like you want every sheet in the project to have the same designer's initials?

Parameters in titleblocks can be by Sheet or by Project.

E.G. the project name would usually be Project Information so you complete it once and it propagates to every sheet. Designer's name would usually by a Sheet parameter since you might have different designers for different parts or disciplines.

If you use your own shared parameters in the labels in the titleblock (and load the same shared parameters into your template/project) then if you go into Project Parameters you can change the setting from by Sheet to by Project.
