In a mechanical template links only structural projects?

Hello all,

I have an architectural project with a steel structure in Revit 2017. Is it possible to start a new mechanical template(in order to put the mechanical equipment) linking the architectural project in it?

I want to know, if I need to link only the steel structure with no walls, facade etc.. in order to be visible the steel structure, avoiding the conflicts.
Because in the mechanical template I cannot choose for example the roof to hide it, in order to have visible the structure that there is below to it.

Hope to make sense.

Thank you in advance!

Maria

I prefer a separate structural model but that's not to say that you can't do what you want with the architectural and structural in one model. The link has separate V/G settings from your model that are quite customizable.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

if you are not responsible for the content of the model, then it is better to link it into your Model as a reference.

as @RobDraw stated you can customize the views through VG of the specific link.

typical practice is link the Architects and structural models independently to your MEPFP model or if you are breaking the model into Discipline specific models

ELEC, FP, MECH, PLMB,TELCOM etc. each would have the others linked into them.

If I am setting up a project I would link in the other models to my project model (using my template) as a point of reference to coordinate.
