Hi there,

as  new user, I'm straggling to rotate a MEP equipment i. a supply air connector or a heat pump equipment around 3 axes.

Is there any way how to rotate this mep families/components around 3 axes.

thank you

D Marini

What I do is create 2 section views around the object and us the rotate function. 2 sections and a plan view will give you x,y, and z axis of rotation. what exactly are you wanting to do with rotations?

I assume the item you have highlighted is what you are attempting to rotate in order to connect with that vertical duct? I still am not sure what your end goal is. Do you want to connect that vertical duct into the unit in the background?

in this work, I wanted to create a closed air loop that pas through an air to air heat pump and estimate pressure losses.

in absence of finding and connecting heat pump, I'm trying to simply it just by connecting air connectors to the duct-work.

Ok, since this is a hosted family you will need to pick a face or plane to place the object. Select the connector then click pick new in the top right and then choose a "face" or "plane" to host it to. This will allow it to go horizontal to allow the vertical duct to connect.

after several attempts, finally seems that made the connection.

thought that revit is more user friendly but does't look like.

many thanks for the help.

no problem, it gets easier over time. at first it will be very annoying but once you figure out its little quirks it is much faster and easier than cad.

yes you are right, it might be more easier that cad.

Trying to do the same (rotate) the heat pump pump single package but for this do not appear "pic a plane" as apparently it is not part of the duct-work equipment.

Is there any tip how to rotate the heat pump on 3d axes?

thank you

That depends on if the pump is a hosted family as well. If its the OOTB heat pump then you can rotate on 3 axis with the 2 section view and plan view method. If its not then I would need to mess with the heat pump family to see its parameters.

I posted the idea that Families can be rotated in Projects regardless of their Categories a while ago but it has since been archived.
