How to make Quantity take off by limit length of pipe?

I want to Quantity Takeoff the piping system. If a 20 meter pipe is to be installed, I would like to limit the length of each pipe that is connected. To lengthen up to 6 meters to allow the BOM should be like below

No.          Discriptions          Length             Q'ty                 total

 1              Pipe 4"                    6                   3                     18 m

 2              Pipe 4"                    2                   1                       2 m

How to set up to limit length of pipe and get BOM like that? Thank you

Hello @meephian,

You can use calculated (1) parameters in your schedules.

Those parameters can contain formulas.

As you can see in the picture below I created a calculate parameters that divide the total length of the Pipe By 6m.

Now you have the number of 6m pipes for each pipe length.

number of pipes.png

The parameter 'Pipe length over' calculates the total length of the 6m pipes minus the length of the real pipe.

You can totalize the length if you want.

Note: you can use any formula in the calculated values.

Please see:  alid Formula Syntax and Abbreviations

Thanks for the reply. The last question is Can I limit the length of the pipe while i drawing? Because it will get the correct quantity of pipes. And finally, I will bring the total number of pipes in each length for calculated cost of cutting. Can i do? Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

Hello @meephian,

Unfortunately, you can't model Pipes using a limitation of length.

You need to use the split function on your Pipes to place couplings manually.

The only way doing that automatically is to use a Dynamo script that splits the Pipes that are longer than 6m or model with Fabrication parts.

There is an 'Optimize Lenght' function in Revit for Fabrication Pipes.

Thank you very much i will try.

,,There is an 'Optimize Lenght' function in Revit for Fabrication Pipes."

Is there any way to changes setting of "Optimize Length", so Revit will automatically devide pipes to segments as we please? (for example, Revit devide pipes into 6,4m segments, and i would like to change this, so Revit will devide pipes into 3m segments)

Kind Regards
RN
