It's probably a type parameter. Edit type.

Hello ToanDN, thanks for your response. this is an Instance Parameter.

Then it is either a reporting parameter, or having the value entered in the formula box.

Hello,

It appears that the value you are referring to may be derived using a formula. To access and edit the formula, you can go to the "Edit Family" mode and look for the icon shown in the image below. This will allow you to access the parameters and edit the formula accordingly.

Thanks

  • its not locked and it doesn't appear to be part of the IF formula in the last image.
  • the "Rod Size Clearance" is locked by typing in the size in the formula field. But the "StrongBack" parameter does not have that situation either.

Can you upload the family for us to look at.

in the Ref. Level view of the family. the Strongback dimension has an Equal dimension set and the EQ is Locked. with the EQ locked, the strongback dimension cant be changed. Unlock the EQ's....

also it is a "Reporting" Parameter. change the type to Instance or Type, depending on how you intend to use it.

I uncheck the reporting parameter it creates an error. reference places are overconstrained

couple things weird with this family as i dig into it.... 😁

There is a Plan Offset Left & a Plan Offset Right parameter. BUT, in the Rev Level view, it is set to be Equidistant. You cant have both. There either Equal, or they can be different. If you completely remove the EQ parameters and set the Stronghold back to Reporting, it works. the Stronghold was set to "reporting" because having the Left and Right, with the Stronghold, over constrains the family.

Hello,

Reporting parameters are Read-only.

But it may have some constraints on your geometry.

Try to remove the association of this parameter with the dimension before removing the report check mark.

But it probably won´t work as you want since the dimension was created to read the value, not to push the matter.

ok, so after trying this many ways and researching, the issue is that the strongback parameter was reporting 2 reference planes that were already defined. so my workaround was to create 2 additional reference planes and aligned the strongback dimensions to it, this made the parameter editable.  thank you all for all your inputs !

Can you please help me figuring out how to add a symbol to this spot elevation family to make it look like the image below?

trameyWU6B7_2-1726496679262.png

I already loaded the symbol families but I cannot even find that specific system family in the browser.

Hello,

Which is the category of your elevation symbol?
