How to make a linear diffuser with multiple boots? Also curved diffusers?

I'm trying to model a linear diffuser that has two or three boots that feed it.  Do I need a specific kind of model for that?  Something with a separate diffuser and boot?  All the models I have seem to have them combined as one with no way to differentiate the boot length from the diffuser.  I need to show the size of the boots that attach to the larger diffuser which will have parts blanked off.  If anyone has done this before I would appreciate any insight you have.

I also need to make curved diffusers with multiple boots.

Usually I have modelled linear slots as separate elements for each active section, and separate elements for blank-off sections, with the family having toggles for trim/end conditions to keep the architect happy. So each active section gets its own boot.

This is an in-house family, so the length is parameterized.

You might be able to find curved diffuser families online, and the workflow should be similar (stack the sections together like bricks).

If the curvature gets particularly crazy, or if you have too many sections and don't want to go through the effort of rotating each and every section into place, you could model-in-place the grille/plenum box component as a sweep, and then start locating some connector-only families for the boot connections.
