How to create a similar REVIT parameter to a new family?

Hey All!

I am creating a family of CCTV devices and would like to create a height parameter that can be an instance parameter AND shows its value in the schedule/tag just as well the Sill Height parameter works for windows.

I know the Window family has the default Sill Height (which is a shared parameter), but in a Revit Project Properties dialog, you can change the height of the window  AND show it on the schedule.

Does anyone know of any possible options?

Thanks!

Caroline

Please follow the steps:

1. Create a shared parameter .txt file containing the required parameter.

2. Open family template then assign the height dimension with height shared parameter(instance) and then load into project.

3. Now your parameter will come in properties tab and can change the elements height by putting any value. It will also reflect in the schedule as well as in tag family.

Hope this will work.

It can help you. I recorded a video showing how to move a list of parameters from one family to another

Thanks for your help.

Actually, I would like to move a revit family parameter to my new family. I think we don't have access to REVIT shared parameter files (*.txt) to make this transfer as you suggested.

If we can access it, would be great!

Cheers!
