HOW?! REVISION CLOUD command GREYS OUT old tags!!

We have previously issued services drawings at Revision A (DUCTWORK, CONTAINMENT, PIPED SERVICES, ETC.).

However, we have made changes to these services and begin to annotate the sheets to re-issue at Revision B & begin adding the new tags for services added in....

Now this is where my question lies....

When using the ANNOTATE - REVISION CLOUD command in Revit 2017, older tags are greyed out.

But newer tags remain black & clear.

Almost as if Revit can detect newer tags? Therefore, showing us which tags should be clouded for the newer revision?

How does Revit know this?

By the issue date on a sheet?

Anyone who can help here, it will be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Rob.

Older revisions have their Issued box ticked?

On the Sheet & clicking "Revisions on Sheet" in the properties box, the previous Revision is "Shown in Revision Schedule".

However, under the View - Revisions toolbar, the previous Revision has not bee ticked under "Issued"...

Yet somehow, Revit displays newer tags in bold black & older tags in faded grey (as shown on the attached picture).

Could it be detected by the "Date" within the Sheet Issues/Revisions box? And so tags added after this date show as bold black? As if there is a time stamp on every element drawn?

So, that probably has nothing to do with the revision or the revision clouds and more likely a phasing thing as the tags and/or entities don't know what revision they are in unless a parameter has been added for this purpose.

Are they gray when not in the revision cloud command?

Are there differences in any of the parameters in the tags, type or instance?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
