Hide elements in linked file

Hi,

I have the contractor's MEP model linked in and would like to hide some data devices from the linked model but not others. Is there a way to do this or is it not possible because they are both of the Data Devices category?

Thanks.

If they don't have any special characteristics to filter then you can Tab select one by one and hide elements in View.

@Anonymous hello, yes you can do that, this in only per view, go to visiblity/graphics overrides > Revit links > dispaly setting > change to custom > go to model categories change to custom (you can change all to custom?) and untick those you need to hide. hope it helps. thanks

Well some of them are not selectable and there are far too many to go through and hiding individually. But that's ok because I figured it out. I created a filter for it. 🙂 (Thank GOODNESS filters work on linked models 😉 )

Thanks though. 🙂

@ennujozlagam Thanks but that does not work as they are both of the same category> data devices and family. Just different types.

Hi @Anonymous,

It can be done.

There is a few ways, is your file is central file or a stand alone project file?

Filters & Worksets can be used to achieve this. Or you can simply select and hide it. But I don't recommend this method.

Thanks @Radish_G. I solved it already through filters. 🙂

If the data devices you're trying to hide are different in terms of types, models, parameters etc. from the ones you want to retain, best practice is to filter them out rather than manually hiding them. Check the properties of those data devices and use that in creating filters. You can turn them off even if they are on the same category as long as you can get any parameter from the family to use in filtering, like type 1, 2, 3 etc....

If they are all in the same data devices, with all it's properties and parameters are the same, then I don't see any reason why you need to hide it. Please enlighten me? Thanks.
