Help with a pipe fitting

Help with a pipe fitting

Anonymous
Not applicable

I modified a pipe tap from metric to imperial, modified the lookup table, so far fine.

When I try and use it to connect a 3" pipe into a 6" header the tap comes in way too small. I'm new to REVIT and cannot figure out what I have done wrong.

Can anyone help?

Can you give either a file or screen shot of the issue.  Did you make sure to put the Lookuptable in the correct spot.  If its not in the correct location Revit wont know what to pull for values.  Is the 3" the only size that doesn't work?

Are you referring to this situation?

I used your tap on pipe. It indeed shows smaller than the pipe. However many of the standard Revit pipes use nominal sizes. The size of the pipe are then actual larger than the nominal number.

For example I used pipe of nominal 25.

As you can see the OD is 33.4 mm. So your tap sees the 25 mm and draws the 25 mm tap. Only the OD of you tap is less than the OD of the tap.

I expect this is what happened to you?

@nathan.chapman In newer Revit version (since 2014) the csv is loaded into the family

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

You are correct that newer families have the csv file in the family but i assumed it was a family that was upgraded and never moved to the new functionality.  In this case it looks at the path defined in the .INI.
