Getting Distance for Lateral Tap Family

Hello Everyone,

 

I've come across a bit of a dilema that I can't quite work a solution for.  I'm trying to set-up a 45 Lateral Tap Family in Revit.  We currently have an instance of this working in AutoCAD MEP.  It's not a simple fitting, but my main issue is translating this in a way that'll work with Revit.   With AutoCAD, as you'll see in in ACADLat Screenshot, the 'throat' of the Lateral Tap (tap is outlet is going vertical in this screenshot) is what determines the length.  In AutoCAD, we've got two points and a distance between those points controlling that length.

 

I've tried in various ways to make something similar work in Revit, however; I've kind of hit an impass.  I've attached the Family in it's current state, plus a screenshot of where I'm at Revit wise.  It's a little messy as I've been kinda experimenting, but hopefully it makes enough sense.  If anything needs clarification, please ask.

Concerning the distance, the workflow is different in Revit since reference plane needs to be used. you need to use the whole path length and use if condition related to an angle and Where lookup table becomes handy. 

Here is a video it shows a bit the issue. The only way to control the length is to control the path in question.

I apologize for notifying you sooner, been a bit busy!  I've actually been able to figure out a means to achieve the solution as needed.  You see, unfortunately, I can't simply use the path (wish I could) that the oval profile is drawn along because the length value needs to be specifcally put at the throat of the angle.  It's a little complicated to explain in text, but it appears that most spiral duct manufactuers use the throat distance for lateral taps. The software that I am getting the length values from has only that particular distance.

 

The solution I came up with was to basically affix the face of my outlet to a model line and then anchor my distance dimension to the model line and the point I want to measure to.  The model line seems to act as a better anchor point as opposed to the face of the sweep or the model line it is pathed along, allowing me to set the length of the throat of the angle.
