gbXML export fails

Hello,

I am trying to export a gbXML file from a Revit 2017 model, in order to re-use it in some other software.

Actually, the export itself succeeds, but the import in the other tool fails. I'm trying to understand what could be the cause.

So, it kept it very simple. Here is the situation:

  1. I received a quite large and complex Revit model. It has gaps, it lacks material information, etc.
  2. I placed an single Space in a very small room that seems to be well enclosed, see picture "space-plan", just to do the test.
  3. I export the gbXML using Rooms/Spaces export type, and keeping it all simple, see "general" picture. And of course "export category" is "spaces".
  4. I check the Space before exporting. Space looks good, no warning sign and the space looks like a closed box, as it should.
  5. For the analytical surfaces, no warning sign, but I notice 2 things that I'm not used to:
    1. There is a "Air gap" surface. See "Analytical Surfaces"
    2. There are a LOT of surfaces on the ceiling. This can be seen as well on the "Analytical Surfaces" picture. That is (I guess) because the ceiling is some kind of curved floor...
  6. I do the export, no warning, everything seems ok.
  7. I try importing this single-space gbXML model in some other tool, and it fails. The message isn't very explicit...

So, what could be the cause of the fail? I tried 3 different gbXML readers, it fails on each one. The gbXML itself seem ok when you open it with a text editor..but that's it. Can it be linked to these numerous faces on the ceiling? Or to the Air gap? If yes, would there be a way to "tell revit" to simplify these ceiling surfaces in some way?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Hello,

Would it be possible for you to share your file or only the part of the file that contains the space so we could try on our side ?

Thanks

Regards
