Family Thumbnail preview in properties within Revit

Hi, does anyone know why after I edit or create a family, the preview of the device in the properties box is either blank or in a random position? Is there any way to set what each one looks like?

When you do a save as in the family editor, you have the options button.

Clicking that opens a new window

In there you can set the source for thumbnail preview

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

In addition to the option given by @L.Maas ,

You can use a plug-in to configure more viewing options as if it were a template for any family member who can save with predetermined types of visualization.

Thanks for the reply, I've tried this and it doesn't seem to update it after I load it into my project. Is this only meant to update the preview thumbnail of the file shown in the file explorer or is it meant to update the preview in the properties box within Revit also? The latter is what I'm looking to do, thanks.

Hello,

Adjust the position on a 3D view, right click with the mouse cursor over the viewcube and select Save View.

Hello,

In save options, try to check Regenerate if view/sheet is not up-to-date.
