Hi

I have a couple of questions.

1. What's better for workshop drawings off ducting, Revit's normal duct systems or fabrication parts.

2. Where can I get Fabrication parts configuration content (esp a round spiggot branching from square ducting.)

3. How do I set the duct length for optimize lengths function.

Think thats all for now!!

Thanks

For shop level drawings the Fabrication tool is going to be what you want.

Content for Fabrication can be downloaded from here http://www.building3dcontent.com/.  Just be aware that to do any database administration you will need a seat of Autodesk Fabrication product line.

The duct length is set in the Fabrication Database.  Typically will be driven by a specification.

Hi guys!
I'm currently working on my bachelor thesis and are exploring the possibilities in using the Fabrication-setup in Revit 2017 for pre-fabrication. I have a few struggles, one among them being the optimize length option. I see that you refer to the Fabrication Database, but I can't seem to find this option anywhere.

Sorry if this is a dumb request, but could you give me a detailed explanation on how to edit the standard length for the "optimize lengths" tool?

I'm currently only using Revit 2017, and haven't explored other software.

The 'optimize length option' gets it's length from the database set up in the fabrication software (not Revit). It will also depend on which spec you have assigned to a service... as you can have muliple specs.

Revit will copy the fabrication spec when you import your required services. most of the deep editing is carried out in the fabrication software. If you make a change you have to reload the service into revit.

Hi Lorne, and thank you for your quick reply and answer

I suspected that this was the case. I have little to non experience with fabrication-software, but are looking forward to checking it out.
