Extremely Slow Load and Sync Time On all Computers but one

I've had this issue in the past. With all computers, not all computers but one. We are working on a job in C4R. Our opening and sync times are outrageous. Almost an hour some times. So, we are thinking of taking our models off C4R and doing it the typical way on our LAN. The issue is, I saved our model and the linked models (arch and structural) to our LAN. Then cleaned all the models and linked them in from that LAN location. The architectural model took 35 minutes to reload into the new model. Way too long. So, I'm assuming something is wrong with the Arch model. But, I create a new local, of the new model and it only takes like 1:30 minutes. GREAT! Sync times follow suit. Now the head scratcher. I had a couple other users try to create new locals from this new model. It takes them 40 minutes! Load and sync. But, I'm still getting 1:30 minute opening and sync times on my computer. What in the world is going on!? We all have the same computers, with the same specs. I'm slightly losing my mind.

next time you open the central file to create a new local run an Audit on the file

have all users in the project either rename their local copy or delete it from their PC.

purge out and Audit any of the LINKED models, they could be causing the lag.

in any linked model confirm you do not have nested links.

you may not need the Sheets or detail views from the linked models so delete what you can to minimize the linked files.

(keep in mind you will have to follow the same proces when they update)

do you have AutoCAD files linked in also?

another thing you can check is the Status of the C4R cloud on this link.

https://health.autodesk.com/

it has been my experience that sync and relinquish often helps but also Publishing your model to the cloud at the end of each day may help too

These models have been stubborn. I did all these suggestions and more 3 times. Same results. Then on the 4th, things worked. No idea what is going on. But, they are working now. I guess that is all that matters. Thanks.

Might be an IT issue. You would have to get your IT department in the loop as well.

It could be that the network is a crammed. Or that the switch isn't capable of handling all the traffic. Is the server capable of handling the traffic? Are there any other processes running on the server?

It could be that the switch isn't up to par. You could try and seperate the revit guys from the rest of the network to see if that improves stability and speed. You would have to monitor the network usage.

Thanks for the info. I've been suspicious of the network myself. The odd things is that we have other projects running with no issue. Our temporary solutions is to work off of C4R and upload/publish model. The architectural model seems to be what is slowing our model down. After testing, I need to clean their model for any kind of reasonable load/sync times.

network or C4R issues would be constant.

it is more likely one of the linked models

prior to updating a linked model strip it down as best as possible.

remove any links from a model to be linked into your model.

it is better to have zero links in a model to be linked.

if there are cad files remove them also most of the time they are not found or unloaded anyway.

every little bit helps
