Thanks for your prompt reply.
I tried to export to Autocad and all the elements are separated 3d solids.
I opened the autocad file with revit and I can see every element now but they are just one solid piece.
Isn't there any way to import manageable parts in revit (for example suitable for parametric objects of a family) without having to model the machine from scratch?
Thank you
Whenever I get an .sat file from Solidworks I run it through Inventor to create an .adsk file (I've had no luck getting Inventor to successfully create .rfa files from .sat files), then I bring that into Revit.
Sometimes in Inventor I can use the "simplify" procedure to take out some of the millions of nuts and bolts from pieces of equipment, etc., but most times that doesn't work well enough so I just import the equipment as-is.
As for getting it to remain as separate model pieces in Revit; I've never gotten that to happen (never really tried either). However, sometimes the file is still in separate pieces while still in Inventor (but not very often, unfortunately), at which time I am able to delete parts I don't want in Revit, etc. Someone familiar with Solidworks recently told me that there's something they can do on their end to make it so it's still individual pieces in Inventor, but I have no idea what that is (and haven't received an .sat file from this person since then).
