Export IFC File for dialux evo 8.1

Hi everybody.

I am trying to import a model from Revit to DiaLux evo 8.1. I searched some ways to do that in internet and i found that i should use IFC File. The problem occurs after exporting the file from Revit as IFC and import it to the dialux , the problem is some Rooms created on the dialux and some rooms in the same file in the same level don't created.

For example : if i have a level with 20 Rooms, 15 Rooms will be created and appear in the dialux taking names from Room 1 to Room 15 , and the remaining five don't appear and the dialux dosn't sense of them .

The conclusion : When i import an IFC File to the dialux , the dialux sense some rooms and not sense the others

here is my question : if there is a way to make the dialux sense of all Rooms which exist in the Revit File ?

IFC Import in Dialux Evo is still in Beta.

I've seen some decent lighting calculations done with IFC import, but it all comes down to the exact quality of the IFC export.

Dialux Evo can only read IFC 2x3 for now, and cannot handle all entities. You should try and experimenting with different IFC2x3 export settings. I've tried it with the 2x3 coordination review 2.0 and got the same result. Maybe if you create a custom ifc export setup with spaces set to 2nd level it will work.

You will also need the appropriate parameters added to your project, so all elements will be exported accordingly.

The needed IFC parameters are:

  • IfcExportAs
  • IfcExportType

You will also need to make sure your IFC mapping table is set correct, so that it will export all the categories to the right IFC entities.

Have you read the article on correct IFC from Dial.de?
https://evo.support-en.dial.de/support/solutions/articles/9000118341-requirements-for-a-good-ifc-imp...

Currently I'm not in the position to exactly figure out the right settings (project deadline and stuff), but hopefully this will help you out on the way.

hi there,

I'm also doing some investigation on dialux IFC importing and I found out that dialux is not really taking the information from the IFC file but rather calculating the spaces itself. At least that is the only way to explain what I got in the picture: 3 apartments, one space each, using non-room bounding walls, and it converted into 26 spaces, one per division in apartment.

@Anonymous I am just wondering if you made further progress with this?

Hey guys,

I am also investigating the IFC file export as well. I just need to figure out how to export the cropped view only, not the entire model.

If you guys ever had a solid successful experience, could you share with me? i have done it once like a year ago and now I cannot do it again. I think there are settings that you can choose while you export from revit.
