Existing pipe breaks at new fitting locations

I don't know how to think of a way to word this in terms of a search, so I'm going to start a new thread:

Currently, when I create a new branch pipe off an existing main, there will be an open gap on my corresponding demolition view where the new fitting is set to be constructed.

Is there a way to instead have Revit make this segment a piece of demolished piping instead of just an open-air gap? Or am I just stuck with having to fill in the gaps with copied around pieces of piping?

Using Revit 2017

Yes, phasing can be quite annoying when it comes to things like this. However you may be fortunate in this case.

If those branches are in fact proper branches you can used the OOTB pipe tap family, it is a tap and as such will not remove any pipe segments. It should be located at: Pipe\Fittings\Generic\Branch Takeoff - Generic

The above location assumes you've just hit Load Family in Revit and haven't changed the default location. There are other OOTB taps available but this is just the generic one.

After that just modify your routing settings to suit.

If my post answers your question, please click... Just kidding!

They probably aren't proper branches, as I've just drawn a new pipe off the existing and the routing preferences inserted the chosen tee.

The branch connection family does solve the problem, Thanks!

Luke, do   you know of any phasing solutions for when new valves/accessories are put into existing piping?
