Error Changing Diffuser Family Type (Network Connectivity)

I'm fairly new to Revit and I'm running into a bit of a snag. In my current project, I accidentally placed the "Supply Diffuser 24 x 24 Face 12 x 12 Connection" element (which came pre-loaded with the template). However, I actually need the "Rectangular Face Round Neck 24" x 24" Face 12" Neck" diffuser instead.

When I try to select the existing diffuser and change it to the "Rectangular Face Round Neck" type, I get an error message that says: "The family is connected in a network and can no longer keep the connectivity. Disconnect the family from the network?"

Usually if you select OK it will disconnect and then automatically reconnect.

Try it and see what happens. You can use Undo if it breaks.

it may be related to the Connector settings on the Rectangular Face Round Neck family. it may be set to a specific system or direction that is not allowing it to connect.

Also, just curious... what is the "Rectangular Face Round Neck" category? is it a Fitting or Air Terminal?

If you are using flex, Revit probably put a square-to-round on the diffuser. Now you are going to a round neck diffuser and it can't connect. Delete the fitting, swap  out the difuser and reconnect the flex.
