Elevation From level

I have created a VAV family and when I went to test it out I ran into an issue that I cannot seem to solve. I want the "Elevation from Level" to be in the middle of my duct connections but I cannot seem to make that happen. I don't know if it was an error in my first extrusion that everything else was based off of or I am simply looking in all the wrong places to assign the elevation from level parameter. If I need to recreate the wheel with this family I will, but I am hoping someone smarter than me can lend a helping hand. As usual, thanks in advance!

You need to have the family set up so that half of the family is above the reference plane and half below the reference plane.

You might be able to fix it by adding another reference plane at the height of the duct centreline, pinning it and setting that as "defines origin" and unpinning the reference plane and setting it as "not a reference" but you'd need to try it out to see if it works. You probably also need to add a dimension label between those two planes, equal to half of the family height.

This is just a guess though, it would be better if you uploaded the family.

Edit: hadn't seen the attachment, I'll take a look.

I haven't looked at the family but you might be able to move everything so that the center of the duct connections are on the reference level in the family.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

My suggestion didn't work. I think you'll need to amend the placement of the geometry in the family and edit the dimensions to suit.

Hello,

Please check if the family is correct.
