Electrical Service Load Summary

Hello Revit MEP experts,

I need to create a electrical load summary that's schedules load name, connected va, demand factor, and demand va. It also needs to sum up total load and total ampacity. I have attached a pic of what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Hello,

You can get these information as part of the panel schedules, if this is the grand total you will get it in the main panel.

If you need to supply each individual load name, you can use either the panel schedules or create a set of circuit schedules.

If you're providing a load summary, that information is available in panel schedules as an option in the panel schedule template - edit template, and under template options check the "show load summary" box.

To ensure that the load summary is accurate (we typically only show this on our main distribution board for the entire building, but you can do it for every panel if required), you have to make sure that the Load Classification is assigned correctly for every object connected to a circuit.  Once that's accomplished you can set the demand factors per Load Classification in the MEP Settings>Electrical dialog under the Manage tab.

You will also need to make sure that every family with an electrical connector has the shared parameters in the family mapped to the electrical connector properties in the family editor.

I think you can get most of the info you need with the two previous posts.

Two areas that may be a slight issue:

1.  You will need different load categories for the Heating and Cooling so it doesn't add them both.

2.  I'm not sure how to get the lighting and receptacle loads to calculate based on the square footage of the building.

I'm not sure how to get the lighting and receptacle loads to calculate based on the square footage of the building.

You can't do it directly within panel schedules, and as far as I know you can't convince Revit to report building GSF, but you can approximate it using quantity schedules by totaling all of the lighting and receptacle loads by space and checking the box to show grand totals.  I use something like this for Comcheck reports.  You can come see me give a presentation about it at Lightfair next week!

Hello Ben,

Is your 2017 Light Fair presentation available to view online?  We are interested in hearing more about the process you mentioned in this post regarding totaling lighting and receptacles loads by space.

Thanks
