Electrical Circuit Default Frame Rating

Hello,

I'm trying to change the default Frame rating from 400A and I haven't been able to find the settings for it. It doesn't seem to be located under MEP Settings => Electrical Settings => General, which is where I found the default Circuit Rating.

Thanks in advance,

Christina D.

That's the only way to set a default. Unfortunately, that only applies to the 'Rating' - and not the frame.

One option is to change your panel schedule templates to look at the circuit rating as opposed to the Frame Rating.

Another option, if you need to quickly change all frame ratings to lets say a 20A circuit:

Create a new Schedule, a Electrical Circuit Schedule.

Add the Frame and/or Rating Fields.

Sort by Frame and/or Rating, and uncheck 'Itemize Every instance'

Click ok and view your schedule.

You should now be able to change the value in the schedule, which will apply to all like values.

If you have some circuits that need to be different, you'll have to manipulate the schedule sorting (use Panel & Circuit parameters to your advantage here) and 'Itemize every Instance' checkbox to get the output best suited for the task.

Hope that helps!

I was actually hoping to replace the circuit rating in the panel schedules with the frame rating, so that I could use the circuit rating in a voltage drop/feeder schedule without messing up breaker sizes in the panel schedules. You're idea for the circuit schedule is a good one, but my issue with using the the frame parameter in my panel schedules right now is that as far as I know the Spare breakers can't be scheduled like the circuits can. Having to go through and manually change every one of them from 400A to 20A would get to be a pretty big pain. Oh well, on to the next idea! Thanks for answering so quickly!

This may be something to consider next time, but why not a combination of both?

In your template, set your default to rating to 20A. Then change the panel schedule template to look at the appropriate default.

Now when you create a spare, it will use that default rating value.
