Duct graphics on plans

Hello,

Im new to the mechanica side of Revit and Im being tasked with standardizing the graphic symbols.

My engineers want our graphice to display in two different ways to differentiate between a duct going up versus a duct going down (below).

I have attached an image of what they want. Any ideas on how to achieve this? I cant figure out how to edit the family as it is a system family. Any help is appreciated.

I have done drawings for years and when you are creating plan drawings and the pipe/duct is cut in the view I show the symbol on the right. If they are wanting to have an option you can create an annotation family and have it built in with the option of showing either with a visibility option. Just my thoughts.

You cannot edit the families. You can only assign one symbol to represent both the rise and the drop. You need to pick from the options available within the program. This is an area that Revit has struggled with over the years. Be prepared to override the graphics (line weights and patterns) for certain situations.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

The only thing you can do from there is choose which one to use. The question is about editing the symbol and having an option to assign separate symbol to represent for rise and drop.
