Create a Step Up Transformer

I need to create a step up transformer. 208 three-phase to 277/480 volt three-phase.  Can we edit the standard step down transformers in Revit to do that?

I've never tried it, but I imagine it's as simple as flipping the primary and secondary voltage settings.

Hello,

 

Yes you can do it ,follow these steps:

 

1- Use any standard type like this

It is a step down one with primary voltage 12K volts.

 

2- Go to edit type and make a new type but make the primary voltage 208 volts as you need.

3- Make sure you have a distribution system named 277/480 volts .

 

4- Make the secondary distribution system 277/480 volts in the properties pallette.

That is it now you have a stepUp Transformer.

Steps 1 and 2 done.

 

As for step 3.  When I go into my Electrical Settings I have 120/208V and 277/480V distribution systems set up.  But I am not sure if 277/480 volts is active in the project.  Is there another step to do that?  All of my panels and the electrical service for the building is 120/208 volts, three-phase,

 

In step 4 when I go to the properties palette the drop down is not "Secondary Distribution System" but simply "Distribution System".  The drop down only gives me a choice of 120/208 volt.

Hello,

 

As for step 3 you can change the secondary distribution system to be 120/208 volts as long as your panels and electrical services works with this voltage.

 

As for step 4 you have two distribution systems one for the primary and the other for the secondary side look at these pics

If you're going to put your transformer on a switchboard you need to make a distribution system for the primary as well.

So., in the second picture below, that should be 120/208 volt?  That is what I have in the box currently.  My primary distribution for this building is 120/208 volts.  That is the service coming into the building.  So all panels are 120/208 volt three phase.  I have a load the requires 480 volts so I need to step up the voltage, fed from one of my 120/208 switchboard to 277/480 volt to feed this one load.  I just cannot find where to make the secondary of the transformer 277/480 volt.

 

In my settings I have both 120/208 volt and 277/480 volt distributions set up.

I may have fixed it.  Finally found the :Secondary Distribution" drop down.

 

Question: Why did you use the 12000-120Y208 dry type transformer to modify instead of the standard 480-120Y208 volt dry-type transformer?

It isn't as easy as you think.  I am trying to go 208V - 230Y/400V and have the system defined.  It just does not want to appear in the pulldown for the secondary distribution .

I wonder if this is an internal Revit setting.
