Copying issues after copy/montor

Scenario:

We are referencing an architectural model in our electrical model. The architect has placed some light fixtures in a weird configuration (not typical for architects in our firm to place light fixtures).

Instead of trying to place the fixtures manually (there are over 100 - all at odd angles), I used the batch copy/monitor to get the lights into my model. After this, I selected the fixtures and used the "stop monitoring" button.

Now, I would like to copy these fixtures up/down a level in my model.

I get the following error when trying to copy a fixture that was previously copy/monitored:

"Selection cannot be copied.
This instance is face-hosted and being managed by copy/monitor, so it cannot be copy/pasted. Use create similar to place a new instance instead."

How do I liberate these fixtures from their copy/monitor shackles?

Dear,

This is because the Lighting fixtures are face based families, so if you are trying to paste them in a place where no face found they will give you this issue. Try to move them with checking disjoin. I don’t know if I got your problem, if it is something different ,please upload an example of what you are saying.

Kindly if this solved your issue, mark as solution to help others.

I think your best bet is going to be to repeat what you did the first time.

Go into the architects model (or have them do it ) and copy the lights there.

Then copy and monitor again.

If the fixtures are face hosted (to ceilings), you can't copy them across floors anyway. The plane of the host is the only plane along which they can be copied. You can clipboard copy them, but you won't have any hosting in the subsequent floors.

To be able to modify the copy/monitored light fixtures you have to re-host them and then you can copy , move or modify them

If those lights are ceiling based,

Try Like this

  1. Copy all Ceilings from arch model by using Copy Monitor
  2. Later Copy those fixtures using Copy Monitor
