Copy Past will not paste element

Hello - I am having a problem in a project and have no idea where to go.  I have searched the internet and have not seen anything close to what I am running into.  Today one of our designers told me a project we are working on is not letting him copy elements using any method other then selecting the element holding the CTRL + CLICK and drag.  They have tried to select the element go to the modify tab select Copy click and go to where we want to paste the element then click but it does not paste.  Copy to clip board does not work either.  We can take the same element into a new project and it works just fine.  I have tried to do an Audit - copy project standards from a clean template - Purge and nothing has worked so far.  This is not limited to a specific family/element.  Tray will not copy and we have Pipe accessories that will not copy.  Any help or Ideas on what to try would be a huge help.. Thank you...

Hello @JoshGillespie ,

It would be good to see some screenshot for this problem.

Anyways in case if you want to place a family in any view, go to Component (of required service M/E/P) -> Place a Component -> Search for family in type selector and place in view.

Let me know if this works.

don't use copy and paste? instead of copy use create similar or just copy (remove tick constrain) or go to another same view try to copy again. check if there is a assigned in the view template and set to none and see if this helps. thanks

Well - some how I have fixed the problem.  The Problem is I do not know how and that is now driving me nuts.  One thing I changed was the type parameter on Plan views.  When you choose New floor plan and click the edit type on the right there was a View Template applied to new views called "New Views"... I removed the New views and filled it in with "none" and unchecked the New views are dependent on template.  Does anyone know if this would have had an impact on the copy paste?  The issue I have is that if I add that back in and update everything I am still able to copy paste like we normally do so that means I am not able to replicate the problem.  If anyone has any other thoughts I am listening but it feels like I am going to have this hole in my soul for some time unless i can figure out what changed to make everything start working.  Thank you for all the comments and Ideas.

Hello,

One possibility is that in the View Template, some setting was hiding the copied elements.

can try to go section view > then copy or create silmilar (you do this also in floor plan view - create similar) > i have feeling that when you copy the objects the family will go the original level ( check the family level assigned)..just saying . thanks

we cannot get a better solution it we don't see the the actual file. better if you can share the file here so we can check. thanks
