Hello,
Is there any trick or method for copying the parameters from one family to another. We have families that have identical parameters, so it is very time consuming to add the parameters every time. If you have any trick then please answer.

Hello,

The best way is to create a shared parameter file with all recurring parameters, and add them individually on every newly created family.

see attached screen shot.

In Revit Extensions (downloadable add-in) there is a tool (Shared/Project Parameters) that can add a series of shared parameters to multiple families located

in a folder.

Other method I have used before is a create an empty family, add all relevant parameters and then use that as a template for new families.

I tried putting all of our typical HVAC parameters into a family that was a 1"x1"x1"cube and inserting that family into new HVAC families. It didn't work. I have simply added shared parameters one-by-one.

No. That is not what I meant.

You start with a relevant family template. In that template you add all the parameters. Then you save it as a family (e.g "Generic Family with parameters.rfa")

In case you have to make a new family you open that family "Generic Family with parameters.rfa" created with all the parameters. In that family you start modelling your family. When ready you save it with a new name. For the next new family you have to create you open the "Generic Family with parameters.rfa" family again.

I think the template is the best way when building families from the ground up. We often modify existing families (from manufacturers usually) to use our shared parameters for scheduling purposes.
