Please provide some more information:

Are you copying the original family from the linked model or using type mapping?

What is the host/base of the original and copied families?

I had similar issues when the placement point type mapped families is different, host/base types differ between linked and type map model,  and when the surface of a hosted family does not exist in the host model.

Maybe the project coordinates are not the same between the models. Did you acquire coordinates from the linked model?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

The coordinated are the same, the two Revit files are created from the same file.

On the other Fancoils i have not this problem.

I am copying the original family.

The Host is a Ceiling, and in the Files where i need to copy the Fancoil became nothing on the host.

I was kind of heading in this direction. If the copied objects cannot find a host they may lose their orientation.

These suggestions may or may not work: Make sure ceilings are on in the V/G settings for both the link and the project. Try doing the Copy/Monitor while in an RCP view.

Ceiling hosted has been a nightmare.

Cannot copy monitor a ceiling. I think this is where the breakdown is.  When you Copy Monitor the family in, it changes from ceiling base to face based.  This is also how Revit treats the linked model

I deal with lights all the time, we use a non-hosted family for all our fixtures, it makes setup time consuming but allows for the flexibility needed.

Another work around is to edit the family you need placed, work with it as a faced based model.  Use the Coordination settings to change from Copy Original to Type Mapping.  Set this to your new face based family.  This should fix the orientation issue, but the hosting will still be broken.

Thanks this is the problem. Unfortunately we use Manufacturer product and i need to change 200 families Smiley Indifferent

So i will move in the linked model my Fancoil when i define the right position.
