Can't remove old shared parameters because shared parameter file is different

I had an old shared parameter file, which has been lost so a family now references the new shared parameter file, however in the label edit, the old shared parameters still show up and there is no way for me to remove them?

Are you saying that you can’t just delete them?

Might help to upload the family.

shared parameters are not linked to the Shared Parameter.TXT file they were loaded from. Once a shared parameter is loaded into a family or project it does not maintain a connection to the Shared Parameter.TXT it was loaded from. Shared Parameters are associated with a 36 character GUID that is different for each parameter.

Unfortunately, the same sheared parameter "name" can be in different shared parameter files with different GUID's associated to them. if this is the case, they wont talk to each other. Your best bet is to delete the old shared parameter out of the family/file and replace it with the new one.   The shared parameter in the family needs to be the same shared parameter file in the model and Visa-Versa.

shared parameters can be tricky, i hope that makes sense :-).

HI @jason.bowman

If you want to re-use the old shared parameters, click and edit the parameter.

In the Parameter Properties > Parameter Type > click the Export... button, the old shared parameter will be exported to the current shared parameter txt file.

You will find the exported shared parameter in the "Exported Parameters" group. You can also move the parameter to the appropriate parameter group you want.
