Cable Tray Run schedule

Hello, I have read many posts about the cable tray run schedule not working but it still doesnt answer my question. Most of the posts suggest that you cant get the bends with the cable tray without bends type which is fine, but the majority of my model is cable tray with fittings type. So then, why when everything else being equal, do the cable tray without fittings type land in my cable tray run schedule, but the cable tray runs with fittings are no where to be found? I mean they are exactly the same albeit different words in the comments. But what gives? how do I get cable tray with fitting types to even show up in this menu? Thanks.

Hello,

This is because of the concept behind the components, usually cable tray without fittings, can be, let´s say a wire mesh one, the bends are done using straight segments were you cut some wires to allow it to bend.

So you need the total lenght of these runs.

Conceptually I think of the two system types:

Without Fittings = Field Bends, no actual fittings are used (Conduit Run schedule available)

With Fittings = Fittings (like sweeps) used instead of field bending (Conduit and Conduit Fitting Schedules - separate)

Put another way without fittings is the early or conceptual conduit layout/run while with fittings is more akin to the installation where you now count the parts, deal with individual elements.

Autodesk offers this approach to schedule conduit runs using with fittings types.

No, no one here explained why my cable tray runs were not showing up in the schedule, they only explained what the difference was. They should be able to show up in the cable tray run schedule. However, they are not.

You think they should and I don't disagree. However, they don't and won't. The Conduit Run Schedule type doesn't "look" at Conduit with Fittings, intentionally, by design. Their decision, their reasons not mine.
