Cable tray not visible in plan region

Hi,

I'm working with cable trays on Revit MEP 2017 and i have to draw a cable tray running at high level above the selected view range.  In previous versions of Revit i would simply create a plan region over the cable tray, nominate it's unique view range and it would show up -  however in this instance only the cable tray fittings show up and the straight runs are still missing??  If i change the overall view range, it shows up perfectly but also shows parts of the architectural for the level above which i don't want to show and is not on a unique workset.

Can someone please help or is this a 2017 glitch?

Things i've tried are:

Making sure all visibility settings are enabled.

Making sure the underlay setting is looking up as this is a RCP (please note the plane region DOES work on floor plans but we need it in RCP plan)

Cheers,

Mark

I have just duplicated your issue.

It does the same thing with ducts and duct fittings with plan regions in RCP views.

It only works correctly in plan views with plan regions for some reason.

Maybe the clue is in the name, I don't know.

Its not like the workplane names or setup for RCP views make any kind of sense in the first place.

create a specific floor plan view to display your cable tray (and only the cable tray)

do not use an underlay setting for this view

adjust your view range for this view

overlay the (2) views on your sheet to see the result you want.

plan regions only work in plan views as Scott stated (not a bug)

they wont ever work in RCP views

Thanks guys!

I did set up a second view purely for the cable trays to overlay on our sheet but just wondered if there was something going on in the plan regions that i wasn't aware of?  It's crazy how it works for the fittings but not the straight runs!

Thanks again!

Mark.

Plan Regions only work in Plan views

Reflected Ceiling Views do not like Plan Regions

and some things don't display the same in both types of views.

another attempt could be a plan view from the above level and some fancy view range settings within the Plan Region.

I just found the separate views as overlays on my sheet an easier solution.
