Bim Interoperability tool

Hi,

My problem is the following :

I am using the COBie extension in order to export my Revit model to a COBie spreadsheet. I started with my architectural model and everything went as planned, now i'm trying to export my fire protection model. My problem is that i can't associate my sprinkler to my room even if my architectural model is linked. Does anyone have an idea how to link my room in my FP modele? My goal is that when I use the "Update" option my "COBie.Component.Space" of my sprinkler would take the name of the room is in.2018-11-19 10_28_49-Autodesk Revit 2018 - [3D View_ {3D - Mederick.Grenier} - 150044_MEP_PI_3_mederi.png

Thanks for the help!

Hi @Anonymous,

You can always use a Dynamo script to copy the name of the room to a parameter on each sprinkler, I know this is a workaround bu it should work.

Best regards

Thank you for your answer @novesvalentin,

To be honest I already have developed an add-in to work around my problem, but I was curious if Autodesk included something in his Interoperability tool in order to link the rooms (A vital parameter in the COBie systeme) between model.

That would be great, but I'm not aware of something like that.

Seems like there are still many things to improve on the FM/COBIe processes within Revit.

Everything stated above is correct, just wanted to expand a bit. The COBie Extension looks at an elements Room property to generate the COBie Slace information. Elements cannot see rooms or spaces through links for this property. If you ever want to check what room a COBie element thinks it is in (or if it is in a room at all) make a schedule and see if you can “Select available fields from:” and Room and Space are in the drop down. Many elements can never find their room.

Adding rooms to the host model is, of course, another option, as well as the previous discussion around Dynamo.

Sorry thats not a solution but hopefully added some more info for a future reader.
