Automatic Space Linked Model Error

Hey everyone,

I used the "Place Spaces Automatically" tool to generate all my spaces from the Architectural/Interior linked models (made sure to check "Room Bounding" on each) and it worked mostly well, except for a few areas that are erroneously bound to a single wall instead of the room itself.

This "Reception" area is supposed to be the whole area, but it is only bound to one wall of the room. See screenshot below:

I tried to delete the space and manually place a new one - and it looked like it would work - this is right before placing the space:

After placing the space, it takes on the same area as before even though it clearly looked as though the bounding walls were set up correctly:

Is there any way I can make sure this space takes up the whole room rather than being bound to that single wall?

A space can not be attached to a single wall. It is always an open space,  bounded by room/space bounding elements. So I  expect something else is going on. Can you upload (relevant part of) your project so we can have a look?

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Have you checked the linked file for the use of room separators?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

The wall may be modeled incorrectly in the linked file (e.g. has base offset from the level). Manually draw a space separator where that wall is to fix it.

Thank you all for your responses. Unfortunately I am not able to share the project.

I opened the linked Architectural model, turned on room bounding within the Base and Interior linked models, then manually placed a space in the same area that I was having issues with in my local file. The space was placed correctly without issue:

In my local file, I have the Architectural, Base, and Interior models linked. Maybe something in the Interior file is interfering with the space?

I will also try adding space separators in my local file. I tried it before but was still unable to get the space to generate correctly.

Edit: I added space separators in the area (excluded all the walls) and when I place the space, nothing shows up. I get the warning "None of the created elements are visible in Floor Plan: LEVEL 1 View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings." I checked on the floor plans for the levels above and below Level 1 but I do not see where the space was placed.

When I turned off room bounding for the linked Interior model, the space was correctly automatically generated! I guess I didn't need to have room bounding on for the linked Interior model, just the Architectural and maybe the Base.

Edit: Nope, I celebrated too early. I need the linked Interior model to be room bounding as well. I am not sure what I will do to fix this.

For what it's worth, I looked at the issue-causing wall in 3D view and it looks fine to me.

By the way - sorry about the username switch. Forgot I was logged in to my personal account when I originally started this topic.

Has anyone else ever experienced this issue when linking another model into their MEP model? I need to have the Architectural, Base, and Interior models linked within my model, but the Interior model seems to mess up some of the spaces that are part of the Architectural model...

If I turn room bounding off for all links except the Interior model, this is what is generated:

It looks like the spaces are generated everywhere a room SHOULDN'T be... Why is Revit trying to tell me that columns and wall segments should be spaces rather than the rooms enclosed within those elements...

Alright I think I fixed it. I had to set the Computational Height for the level to 4' (it was default to 0). Once I did this, the rooms all generated accurately. I guess maybe Revit was struggling to accurately generate the rooms because of sloped ceilings/floors within the parking garage?

For anyone who wants to understand Computational Height a little better (this was new to me) I found this page that really helped me out.
