Auto place family types by instance parameters

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody has experience in placing different types of families by an another instance parameter. 

For example, if I have a valve family with different types(lets say based on different sizes) and I want it to be auto selected when I connect it with a pipe and if the pipe diameter changes so will the family type. 

Size parameter could be done as instance to match the pipe size parameter(which is instance) but valve shapes differ by sizes. 

I have read in the forums that a nested family or maybe a nested(nested) family could solve this problem but I couldnt figure out.

Hello,

Instead of creating different types, it will be the same family type with size controlled through looukup tables like pipe fittings, but the setting of the connectors have to be fittings.
