Annotation (Grid/Levels) jogs from links not appearing in other files

Hi all,

I have grid lines in a revit file and it is linked into other revit files. In grid lines revit file, I have added jogs to Levels and grid bubbles. But those settings/jogs done appear when placed as links in another revit file. How do I make the gridlines and levels show exactly the same way as the source file? Is there a "special propagate" function available for links?

Thanks

Ranga

Set the link to display by linked view.

As reference:

Grids have two states 2D and 3D. Jogs are part of the 2D representation and are annotations which are view specific. When grids are shown through a link (not by linked view), you will see the 3D representation as it is in the linked model. Unless you want every view to have the same 2D representation, it is best to have the grids reside in the project, not linked in.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. The reason I lie to have grids in a linked file is that, I want to make sure any change to grid lines is propagated to all disciplines. I use "linked grid lines" + "copy/monitor" to achieve this.

If I put grids in each Revit file of discipline, how can I ensure grid are up to date all the time?

Thanks

Since you asked.

I've only had this as an issue in one project. The grid designations kept changing. The grids themselves have moved only a handful of times. Additional grids have been added at times.

Copy/monitor is how I've always kept them updated. If something changes, I get a coordination alert. I usually deal with a variety of views so the 2D representation varies enough that one 2D  configuration wouldn't work. I usually have to move heads etc.

Your workflow may vary and having static 2D grid representations might be good enough for you.
