Analytical space not defined under one space.

Hello,

I am having an issue with combining analytical spaces under one space. The analytical spaces created from the energy model analysis show up with different names and even after I create a defined space in the room, they remain separated. This leads to my more main issue where I want the analysis report to show me a summary of my zones but since I can't combine the spaces, it shows each individual analytical spaces.

To further elaborate, here is the zones with the defined spaces,

but then if I go click on the analytical spaces of the rooms, they are identified with different names (Shown below)

and so they appear as "GUEST BEDROOM 119 1" and "GUEST BEDROOM 119 2" instead of under the defined space of "GUEST BEDROOM 119".

I worked on another project where the analytical spaces were under the defined space. This happened on its own after defining a space but in this project, it is not doing it.

Can you clarify - sometimes you say spaces, other times you say rooms - Spaces and Rooms are different so which are you using in your model?

Are you using Systems Analysis or are you using the Heating & Cooling Loads tool?

Which mode are you using in Energy Settings?

Have you got the perimeter zone division activated?

Yes.

For spaces, I am referring to the space tab, analyze > space & zones > space:

For room, I am referring to the room of the model.

I am using system analysis, conceptual masses and building elements, and yes perimeter zone division is activated.

What happens if you turn off the perimeter zone? Do you then get one analytical space per model space?

This partially worked. Some rooms only had one analytical space, but there were still some rooms with more than one.

Maybe @Kevin.Lawson.PE could help, he seems to know more about systems analysis than most people.

What are those space separation lines that are zigzagging through the rooms?  Start by getting rid of those.

The zigzag lines are the separations of the analytical spaces. I'm not sure how to remove these. When I generate the energy model under Analyze > Energy Optimization > Create Energy Model. These space separations are auto-generated with the energy model.

I presumed this was a division between the perimeter zone and the core created during the energy model creation process and that the zig-zag pattern is due to the analytical space/surface resolution setting?

Do you still get this pattern if you have the perimeter division turned off?

The zigzag still shows in some rooms if I turn perimeter zone off. This goes back to our earlier discussion. When turn it off some rooms only have one analytical space showing:

(No zigzag with Per. zone off)
