2018 - HVAC Zone tagging in Reflected Ceiling Plan views

Is tagging HVAC zones possible in RCP views? I cannot get the HVAC zone element to show up which in turn does not allow me to tag them. This is a big problem for us.

I have spaces and HVAC Zone categories check for visibility in my view templates. View Range is default with a 7'-6" cut plane and the level above being the view depth as well as the top constraint. I have even set the cut plane to 4'-0" and still no zones to tag.

Anyone else have this issue?

btw, this is not a MEP question, I am using spaces and Zones to tag multi residential apartments architecturally.

I don't work with spaces/zones, so I'm only guessing here, but...

Do they use the calculation elevation set by the Level, in the same way that Rooms use it? If so, maybe they won't display because the default calculation elevation will be on the floor, which isn't within the view range of your RCP.

Its an interesting thought and I will look at that. I will say in my case the HVAC Zone is like a room/space in respects to being a volume type element in Revit. 

I am really surprised that this hasn't come up before as I have been searching everywhere on "the Google" and there is nothing on it. I would think MEP folks would have had this question before. Unless no one in the MEP industry uses RCP 's for their plans or they never have a reason to tag a HVAC zone....

I don't use RCPs myself, except for the Architectural Ceiling Plan. I don't use them for any MEP views at all. Even for Lighting Plans or HVAC plans that need the ceiling in the view, I use a floor plan with the view range moved up.

Interesting. My MEP guys fight me on this too. I have always wondered why. Seems to make sense to me to be able to turn the ceiling on and off for QCing the ceiling items. My guess has always been that back in the day MEP was way behind the Architecture flavor of Revit and it wasn't an option. The workaround stuck. When I implemented Revit into my second firm all my MEP views were RCP's when it came to ceiling stuff. Electrical benefit the most of it in my experience. 

But what do I know. lol

I think figuring out the RCP view ranges confused me, and so I figured out how to get basically the same thing out of a Floor plan and it was mentally easier for me. Then I just got used to that workflow and have done it since without finding any good reason to change.

Same issue. The HVAC zones are visible in floor plans but not visible in reflected ceiling plans, even when ticked in the visibility/graphic overrides, and for any view range.
