Yes/No visibiity settings per view

Yes/No visibiity settings per view

There are situations where you want to create a Yes/No parameter to control the visual display of a family for a particular view. However if you toggle this property on or off for 1 particular view the display properties are applied to all and any view that same family is visible in.

Can we allow an option within a families Yes/No parameters to choose and select either:

Option A: Yes/No applies to all views

or

Option B: Yes/No applies to only that particular view

You could use sub-categories in the families to accomplish what you're looking for...

@Clarke_Symetri It's not ideal on a large scale, especially when others are linking your model.  They must add the subcategories in order to control, and there is no way to set a subcategory to "off unless specifically turned on", which might make it more feasible.

This sounds like an interesting feature. How would you guys use it?

@jkidder I hear you, makes sense. Do you have specific cases where this would be beneficial? Just curious. Detail level might help too, but I'm guessing you have another scenario where you need the idea you posted...

OK Let me paint a picture of the scenario, we have 2 views needed one in isometric and another in plan. Both views have the same area and the same families laid out with clearances built into the family and Yes/No visibility parameters mapped to those clearances. In the isometric view it may be beneficial to turn on clearances to plot out an isometric coordination view, however the change to view the clearance using the yes/no for this isometric view will also turn on the clearance for the plan view intended for our construction documents.

The intent is to toggle a yes/no parameter on or off to create an aesthetic representation of the object in that view and sometimes affects more views then preferred causing display inaccuracies on our documents if not careful. I hope this explains the situation clearly.
