Worktop system family (like a floor)

Worktop system family (like a floor)

It would be really useful to have a system family for worktops that functioned like a floor/roof/ceiling/etc (maybe without layers), being created from a sketch and with the ability to add edge trims and upstands in the same way we can add gutters, fascias, etc.

This would be far more convenient than having to model every different permutation of worktop layout... or having to build our worktops from a number of different families.

At the moment I still find people use floors for this becuase they are more convenient... but that kind of breaks the category link.

Yes this kind of family template would be super useful in revit world. Basically it could function as a "Generic model sketch based"

This would be useful for number of things

- Worktops and other irregular shape objects (as awasyliw suggests)

- Wall areas when modeled to work plane or face

- non rectangular curtain panels !!!

Basically it would seem possible to have following functions to template

- Have layers that follow the sketch outline, distance from outline could be parametrised

- Have profiles that are "hosted" to sketch outline

- and hopeful bonus: possibility to parametrise the corner type and radius 🙂

But yeah, this kind of family template would be a game changer in revit world!
