Warning when deleting used Line Styles (and Patterns)

Warning when deleting used Line Styles (and Patterns)

Currently when you're cleaning up a project, and want to delete Line Styles, Revit will not warn you if this Style is still in use. Thus resulting in views with black thin lines (and no way of knowing what the Style was or needs to be).

Currently we're forced to open and check every view, or just delete the Styles and hope for the best.

Either Revit should give a warning that this Style is still in use OR it should give you the option to change the lines to another chosen Line Style (preferred solution).

Same should be done for Line Pattens, so you don't have to check all your Object Styles, Graphic Overrides,...

You might want to look at my add-in than can purge unused line styles and line patterns, find and delete inserted/linked CAD, both in a family and in a project.

I've managed to create a Dynamo script which lists the used and unused Line Styles. But it would be much better if we could do this native in Revit.

The Ideate Software and corresponding add in called "Explorer" is a great tool to resolve this issue. It allows the user to see whether specific line styles are associated to model lines or detail lines, one may also select all lines in that style and turn them into a different line style prior to deleting the line style. It does a bunch of other handy stuff, I definitely recommend picking up the Ideate Software add in for this and a bunch of other useful production stuff.

Ideate Software has even added on to Richard Wilson's posts with our Ideate StyleManager application.   It allows you to understand if object styles, line styles, line patterns, filled regions, fill patterns, and MANY more styles are actually being used in the Revit model.  You can merge them with approved styles or remove them from the model.

A similar warning to what is used when you delete a workset should suffice. Great idea.
