Wall wrapping at inserts and ends in section.

Wall wrapping at inserts and ends in section.

It would save a lot of time it was possible to dictate wall wrapping behaviour in section at inserts (doors/windows etc.) and at ends. This could help show wall top ends as they should look without getting into a lot of extra work using sweeps, reveals and so on. Wrapping in section would have allowed also for creating architectural beams that have their finishing layers wrap all around them. This feature is crucial for material take off too, since if we use a work-around, the take off ignores these quantities. And there are countless other wonderfull applications for this.

Please vote for an easier work life! It's time the machines did more work to save us unecessary slavery!

I would tweak this idea a little bit... custom wraps could be an exception, not a rule.  I always right-click on a Wall End hoping to see a Wrap/Unwrap override tool.

I have already posted this idea, or rather important requirement. The fact that walls do not wrap automatically in section creates a lot of unnecessary extra work. Please! Please! include this in the next release.

@FinearcLtd,

I wrote a blog post on controlling the wall wraps at each end of the wall and submitted a Revit Ideas as well. Would be interesting to figure this one out for a section as well!

I'm voting your up. Check out the post and link to the Revit ideas and let's get the wall wrap improvement going.

I've voted both this and your previous idea post (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/wall-wrapping-at-inserts-and-ends-in-section/idi-p/645999...) up.

Why you can't have a reference plane in section that controls the wall wrap as well as in plan is beyond me.

its applied in plan , why it is so difficult to be applied in section?

How is this not an actual thing right now??!! There are so many holes in this software it's insane. Yet Autodesk still believe that charging a Kings ransom for the "privilege" of using incomplete software with numerous holes, issues and omissions is wholly acceptable.....Without doubt, they have the greatest marketing team in the architectural world, bar none. We were sold a dream, and it's actually, well, not.

It could be useful to have the possibility to set up the width of the layer that wraps at inserts. For example, we often want the insulation layer of the walls to wrap at insert, but with a different width than the one defined in type properties of the wall.

@Anonymous, I up vote this (now 5 years later) Sash...i created your brilliant door wall wrap as you did but i have one problem...it looks great in plan but when i applied to a brick wall, (or any wall with a hatch/texture) and viewed from elevation, the door opening blocks the hatch.... i clicked on "transparent in elevation" but it didnt make a difference.... any idea for a work around for this work around?

Would be handy to also be able set the depth of the wrap too

wrapping.PNG

Image on left shows the correct stopping location of the brickwork. Due to the limitations of Revit, I have had to separate the cavity into 2 parts (white area). I have also had to play around with the layering in order to get required depth. Incorrect methodology of layer hierarchy and and position of specifying inside/outside core used in order to get it to function as desired.

When correct method of specifying the correct layer hierarchy and whether layer is inside/outside core results in the incorrect representation as seen on the image on the right

Perhaps idea listed below regarding drag and drop wall layers will resolve
