Visibility parameter for groups in family editor

Visibility parameter for groups in family editor

It's currently impossible to add a visibility parameter to a group instance.

To have a Visibility parameter available for groups would greatly simplify the creation of families.

One example where this is necessary is when you're creating an array in a family. Arrays need a minimum of 2 elements to work.

But in cases when an array only needs 1 element, we should be able to set the second element to invisible.

Something in the likes of "Array < 2" uncheck the visibility of that last element.

But I'm sure there are other examples, when creating families, where this function is desirable.

I agree this would be helpful. However, I can usually get around it by using nested families instead of groups. I find nested families are a bit easier to control anyway.

@scbunker I try to use nested families as well. But this Idea is mainly for when you have an array. If you only need 1 instance, you can't just hide the second instance.

Has this functionality been implemented in future editions?

Nested families seems like overkill in some instances.

I agree with Rfreund,

I find myself making inception style families "We must go a layer deeper!" just to do something that could be done with group visibily.

Select a group and hit the Edit Group button. Now, you can control the visibility of groups.
