It's frustrating to try to build a filter and find that Revit treats things differently in the filters than in the V/G box. For example a matchline isn't a "matchline" it's a detail item (i think). A filled region is a "generic model", etc.
I think the frustrating part is that maybe filtering is only able to do some mid to higher level grouping, where V/G lets you work all the way at the bottom of the hierarchy. Maybe I want to turn off Filled Regions but not lines, etc.
I'm suggesting you use the exact same names in the V/G as in the filters. Maybe in the same order.
Conversely you could organize the V/G and display the groupings. E.g. Detail items is a group and that would expand to show that line's a detail item, and filled region, etc, etc. This would be nice actually! Then you could turn off a group or just the individual components.
