Uncheck by default 'Correct lines that are slightly off axis'

On behalf of my 25 Revit users - Please uncheck by default 'Correct lines that are slightly off axis' when linking or Importing CAD files - as Revit is precision tool that setting doesn't do any good by modifying you underplaying drawing in unpredictable matter - it changes dimensions between elements. I don't remember for the last 8 years ever wanting to have my lines straighten up by Revit.

My office does a Revit Model auditing process to make sure everyone is sticking to our office standards and this is one of the most difficult warnings to avoid. Not everything in the world is a straight line and it would be great if this warning just went away. We audit for warnings since it slows down models and I can't do anything about a property line being off axis. This should not be a thing. Get rid of this warning

I partially disagree.  There should be a way to identify certain lines, particularly property lines as "I have reviewed these, they are supposed to be slightly off axis, don't warn me about them again).  Howver, often CAD links are actually and incorrectly slightly off axis, and I wouldn't want those warnings to be cleared indiscriminatly or those created when someone tries to use pick line off them.

If you think this is bad, then wait till you generate a model of an existing building on the basis of a point cloud!! ROFL!!!

I vote for this with both hands! I currently work on existing building where gridlines are not perpendicular and "slightly off axis" is everywhere -I have around 550 errors related to it (walls, lines, rooms...).

Yes. Ability to disable it would be nice. From all the project i've worked on, property line is NEVER straight. I don't know why revit keep on giving warning when the real world is never straight. When it is wall, floor, roof and other object that is off axis, i like to know.

Honestly, we're working on a model that is based on a radial grid and has a concentric logic. There are over 200 slightly off-axis warnings, for walls, lines, sketches, room/area separations, etc. Even grids (triple checked that it's accurately placed, but can't remove the warning). Revit is clearly not meant for innovative architecture, just boxes, and more boxes. It's a stupid thing to keep track of in a round project. So maybe disabling per project is a worthy consideration, similar to Syman's suggestion.

I'm working on a remodel of an existing building and there isn't a single 'on axis' line so they're ALL flagging warnings, which means;

every.

other.

wall.

i.

add.

flags.

a.

new.

warning.

Often several because the walls aren't even all aligned along the same wall (i mean like it looks like a line but it's actually slightly 'wavy' according to survey data.

Currently we are at 852 warnings that cannot be fixed!

I'd really like to turn these warnings off on a per-entity basis, as per-model seems.. Risky.

An ideal would be that we could

 - turn this warning off per entity, AND 

 - for each entity this warning has been turned off, the auto-snap also turns off (eg: if we drag a wall end, it doesn't try to snap it to a 'straight' axis that doesn't exist)

I'm trying to work with a model constructed from a cloud/point survey, of 300-150 year old building.... I have 2.5k warnings!!!! most of which are "walls slightly off axis".

There must be some sort of tolerance we could set?

Code was posted to suppress these warnings thru error handling but I have no idea how to apply it permanently.  Or even temporarily for that matter.  I would love an option to "ignore" a warning and remove it from the warnings list.  The world is not square!

There is a video in Linkedin saying the opposite, that this should be ticked on, and Revit doesn't like non orthogonal lines, what's the correct setting?

100% agree.

It is good to have these warnings, but it would be even better when we could intentionally ignore some of them because it is often intended to have a property line with a funny angle.

Just came to this post as I have the same question.

For me it is just not done to "autocorrect" anything in/from my source DWG. I often get topography files that are at 0.5 - 1cm (~1/4 inch) accurate. With these files we have to design a bridge, tunnel, whaterver infra object.

If Revit "corrects" the lines in the source, I'm gonna make big mistakes and my bridge will be placed wrongly. Then the road design has to be adjusted, cables have to be revised (often already placed) and so on. So I don't care what Revit likes or not, I want my data to be accurate.

With our company, checking this one is considered a big fail in the import process.

If only it was a variable in the settings... or Revit would remember the last setting...
